Bertold Brecht
Bertold Brecht was a famous director and theatrical theory writer from Germany who died in 1956.
His work was often centered around his own political beliefs as he thought theatre could be used as a tool to get a message across.
He is famed for using techniques such as 'breaking down the fourth wall', 'alienation' and for coining the phrase 'Epic Theatre'.
